Visit ArtSpeak Demystified and you’ll find a relevant, understandable, and intriguing exploration of the art facts everyone wants to know. Look at the backs of paintings and discover their travel history. Learn about how specific works journeyed from the artist’s studio to M&G’s galleries. Take a tour that unravels the process involved in creating different types of art media. Come demystify a world that can at times seem distant...you’ll be permanently intrigued.

Bowen Collection of Antiquities

M&G’s collection of antiquities from Palestine, Rome, and Egypt are once again on display for patrons of all ages to enjoy. Originally compiled by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowen in 1927, the collection is designed to “make the Bible come alive.” Guests will enjoy viewing a first-century ossuary, a Roman looking glass, and a portion of the Torah.

Walk-in Tours: Highlights of the Collection
Thursdays and Fridays at 3 p.m.

Journey through time and see the art of the Old Masters, beginning with the Gothic period and moving through the Renaissance and Baroque eras and into the nineteenth century. Specially featured are great works by major artists such as Botticelli, Tintoretto, Rubens, van Dyck, Honthorst, and Doré. Discover the symbolism that is inherent to religious art and enjoy its aesthetic elements.

You’re invited to attend the Museum & Gallery’s eleventh annual Living Gallery, an extraordinary presentation that weaves together art, music, and drama. Striking re-creations of artistic masterpieces are brought to life by real people in unique “living pictures.” This year’s program, This Is My Word, emphasizes the power of God’s life-changing Word through the remarkable medium of illuminated manuscripts. Fee: Adults, $10; children (6-12), $7. Children must be six or older to attend.

M&G Extended Hours

M&G’s galleries will remain open until 7 p.m. each Living Gallery performance night. Living Gallery ticket stubs grant free admission to M&G only on Living Gallery performance days. Regular admission: Adults $5, seniors (60+) $4, students $3, children 6–12 and members with membership card enter free. Children must be 6 or older and accompanied by an adult to be admitted.

Make plans to spend an afternoon enjoying M&G’s Old Master paintings and a live instrumental performance by the University string ensemble, Collegium Musicum, as the galleries echo with the poignant melodies of Bach and Mendelssohn.

Come explore the hidden world of art and uncover secrets found in M&G's paintings! Help Artechus examine seals and documents to determine where paintings have traveled, who owned them, and which ones are originals. Bring your best sleuthing skills; Artechus will need them!

Join Artechus on an exciting exploration through ancient Rome. Children ages 6–12 will be delighted to enter the streets of Rome. While in Rome, children will enjoy piecing together a mosaic, matching Rome’s landmarks to the correct place on a geographical map, or dressing up in traditional Roman garb. Students will also learn about Roman numerals and discover clues to Rome’s glorious past. Shopping in the Forum will please boys and girls alike while teaching them about the highly developed mathematical system perfected by this ancient civilization. Join Artechus and unearth the treasures and secrets of the Roman Empire!

Easter Scavenger Hunt
February 12–March 30

Children ages 6–12 are invited to participate in an Easter-themed scavenger hunt. This self-guided exciting activity takes 30 to 45 minutes and is designed to captivate children’s interest and expose them to Old Master paintings.

What You See Is What You Get

Are you tired of drawing the same stick figures, coloring out of coloring books, and painting by number? Join Artechus for a four-day adventure. Find out how to make your artwork more exciting and believable by incorporating the principles of rhythm, pattern, movement, emphasis, and balance. Artechus can make these big words easy to understand through hands-on projects each day. Learn the technique of printmaking, form a 3-D sculpture out of wire, make a tissue paper stained glass window, learn how to better draw faces—all this and more is waiting for you at M&G!
